Mr. Cisneros started out in the field of petrochemical construction after studying architecture at the University of Texas at Austin.
His first professional experience came with Brown & Root building refineries, then with IMCO, a Haliburton company, building dry bulk and liquid chemical processing plants. In his professional role with these companies as part of the design team and project manager for construction, he helped build these facilities in Mexico, Louisiana and Missouri. His career in project management also included roles in commercial construction building hotels and office complexes up until 1995 when he decided to start his own company, Armor Sealants & Firestopping, Inc.
The company currently has 15 employees with as many as 25 employees in the past and currently does $1 million a year in gross revenues. The company is a family owned and operated business, managed by both Tom and his wife, Sandra, Vice President of the company, and his youngest son, Paul, managing a newly expanded division. His oldest son, Tom Cisneros, IV, is a garden home builder in his own right in the Houston, Texas area.
Because of Tom's diverse professional experience, his compant also undertakes special projects on occasion from tilt wall building construction to restoration of flood gates for Longhorn Dam in downtown Austin. The company has participated as a City of Austin certified company in countless city projects over the past 12-13 years with close to or over 50 City of Austin projects, averaging 5-6 city projects in some years. The Company is also a State of Texas certified HUB.
